Meticulous Craft Meets Contemporary Art

“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.
— Vincent Van Gogh

Trudy began her relationship with thread and its power to transform at the age of 8 when her mother taught her to knit and keep her restless hands busy One thing led to another, a simple knit purl became countless scarves in multitudes of patterns, then hats, vests, sweaters, ..... but she wanted to do more, push further.

This time an aunt supplied the answer in the form of a silk screened embroidery patter. Trudy saw beyond the existing pattern into a world of possibilities combining her fine arts education with a medium she loves.

Ever since she has been exploring her art through thread.  Cross stitch, half stitch, long stitch, short stitch, fly stitch..... they all find homes in Trudy's work, but the technique is a free for all. Any stitch, as long as it works to achieve the vision she has for the piece.
